How to Prep for At-Home Workouts

If you think turning on your computer and hitting play is all it takes to crush your at-home workout, you might be surprised to find out it’s not that easy. At-home workouts can be incredibly challenging for those who are used to punching it out at the gym, as it’s easier to slack off at home and not give it your all. Luckily, we have some simple steps you can follow to prep for your at-home workouts to ensure you’re getting the most out of each 30-minute session.
Step 1: Remember to Fuel Up
We have designed our at-home workouts to be just as tough as what you do in the gym, which means it’s still important to fuel your body correctly prior to working out. Remember to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet to give your body the energy it needs to get through an intense 30-minute workout. You should also stay hydrated throughout the day, especially if you plan on working out in the summer heat. Step 2: Set a Schedule and Stick with It
Without having to get up and drive yourself to the gym, where a 9Round trainer is waiting to help you crush your workout, it can be very tempting to slack off from time to time. Luckily, you can still plan a workout schedule at home and stick to it, thanks to our 30-minute at-home workouts that are available each and every day of the week. In addition to a refined at-home workout schedule, we also highly recommend finding an accountability partner who will keep up with you throughout the week to ensure you’re still doing your workouts at home.
Step 3: Pick the Perfect Workout Space
Having a dedicated space for working out with little distractions will ensure you can get through your 30-minute workout with no excuses. This makes it less likely for you to skip a workout or stop early when working out at home. Wherever you plan on working out, be it your living room or an outdoor patio, you need to ensure there’s plenty of space for you to move. You also need a safe place to set your streaming device that allows you to see the workout of the day with ease.
No matter what space you choose, be sure it’s free of distractions. Don’t choose an area where family members are constantly walking in an out, as this may break your focus. Also, please ensure pets are secured prior to working out, as having them loose could cause an injury for you or your pet.
Step 4: Gather Everything You Need
While our at-home workouts don’t require any equipment, there are few optional items we highly recommend using to help AMP your workouts. These items include your 9Round gloves, hand wraps, and PULSE heart rate monitor. Your gloves and hand wraps help you get in the mindset for working out, and the PULSE Monitor can be paired with the PULSE App to help you track your heart rate and PULSE Points at home. If you want to add some extra resistance with weights, you can also incorporate dumbbells, kettlebells, or medicine balls for certain exercises.
A few other things that might help are hand towels to wipe up sweat, a yoga mat or a bath towel to provide cushion on hard surfaces, and a bottle of water. Sometimes, you might also need a chair or other elevated surface to perform specific exercises. Be sure to gather all of your necessary equipment prior to starting your workout, so you won’t have to pause it in order to collect something you may need.
Our At-Home Workouts are a great complement to the in-studio workouts or on their own, if you’re unable to make it into your local 9Round club. With these simple steps, you can prepare for your at-home workouts and crush your fitness goals with confidence outside the studio.
